Viscira® Welcomes New Senior Scientific Director

Viscira, a leading provider of digital marketing solutions and software products for the life sciences industry, is proud to announce that Heather McCune, PhD, has rejoined the company as Senior Scientific Director. She will be responsible for guiding scientific strategy and medical content development for the company’s diverse base of domestic and global life sciences clients.

Heather brings over 10 years of medical content development experience back to Viscira. In addition to her previous role as Director of Medical Content at Viscira, Heather has held senior-level scientific positions at the medical communications agencies CMC and GeneEd, and in medical affairs at Cord Blood Registry. Heather has shaped content development efforts for some of the world’s largest pharma and biotech companies, providing support for nearly 400 digital, promotional, and medical education programs. McCune has also supported several launch brands, including those requiring OPDP preclearance review. She has experience in multiple therapeutic areas—namely, hematology/oncology (ALL, multiple myeloma, B-cell malignancies, hemophilia), solid tumor oncology (breast, lung, colorectal), neurology, cardiology, psychiatry, regenerative medicine, and rare disease.

Heather's academic credentials are as impressive as her pharma marketing and medical communications experience. She holds a BA in Biology from Macalester College and a PhD in Genetics from the University of Washington. She also has 10 years of bench research experience, gained during her doctoral studies, her postdoctoral fellowship in Biochemistry & Biophysics at UCSF, and research positions at the University of Minnesota and the University of Chicago. Videos are Preferred Method for HCPs to Retrieve New Medical Information and Research

A recent forecast by Cisco VNI predicts that internet video will account for 79% of all global internet traffic by 2020—up from 63% in 2015. The report also forecasts that video will increase fourfold between 2015 and 2020, with video traffic ultimately accounting for 82% of consumer internet traffic and 66% of business internet traffic.

The growing trend of web video watching has also impacted the healthcare industry, influencing how physicians now access medical information. Before work, at the point of care, in between patient visits, and after work, HCPs are spending an average of 11 hours online per week.

Viscira® Announces Version 2.0 of its Interactive Resource Library (IRL) Platform for the Life Sciences Industry

Viscira, a leading provider of digital marketing solutions and software products for the life sciences industry, today announced the release of Version 2.0 of its Interactive Resource Library (IRL) for life sciences clients. This mobile presentation platform, developed for Medical Science Liaison (MSL) use, allows MSLs quick and easy access to all the resources they need for effective, engaging educational presentations.

The IRL also functions as a digital briefcase, enabling field medical teams to seamlessly present relevant clinical data, disease education videos, and other key scientific materials to support their face-to-face clinical discussions with healthcare practitioners.

Viscira® 3D Animation for Roche Wins Silver Davey Award

Viscira, a leading provider of digital marketing solutions and software products for the life sciences industry, today announced that the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts has selected Viscira as a Silver winner for the company's 3D animation video program about idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). The award was given in the area of video/film in pharmaceuticals within the specialty category of animation use. With more than 4,000 entries from across the US and around the world, the Davey Awards honor the finest creative work from the best small firms, agencies and companies worldwide.

IPF is a chronic and ultimately fatal respiratory disease characterized by a progressive decline in lung function. The primary objective of the animation video program developed for Roche was to educate healthcare professionals on the mechanism of disease (MOD) and to highlight the human impact of the condition on patients with IPF. The video was initially deployed at the ERS (European Respiratory Society) International Conference in September 2015 in Amsterdam.

This interactive MOD animation highlights the pathological features of IPF and includes high-quality character animation. The piece was highly cinematic, creatively unique and scientifically accurate. Hagop (Kane) Kaneboughazian, VP of Animation at Viscira, described the video in short as "Toy Story meets pharma."

The Davey Awards is in its 12th season and is overseen and sanctioned by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts, an invitation-only body consisting of top-tier professionals from a "Who’s Who" of acclaimed media, communications, advertising, creative and marketing firms. AIVA members include executives from organizations such as Conde Nast, Disney, GE, Keller Crescent, Microsoft, Monster.com, MTV, Push, Publicis, Sesame Workshops, The Marketing Store, Worktank and Yahoo!
