Viscira® Supports Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford with Interactive Holiday Game for Clients

Company Helps Raise Money and Awareness with Innovative Fundraising Activity for Charity

San Francisco, CA (January 12, 2015)

Viscira, a leading provider of interactive, new-media communication solutions and software products for the life sciences industry, announces the creation of their “Holiday Lab,” an interactive, web-based game made for its 2014 clients. It features a holiday-themed virtual science lab where users can combine different holiday compounds to create various holiday “products”.

With this interactive, animated program, the user adds different holiday components to a centrifuge and lab blender. The final mixture then develops into products such as a snowman, Christmas tree, or gingerbread man. The user scores as they successfully create the various holiday products.

In addition to providing a creative and engaging holiday greeting for clients, Viscira’s goal with the interactive game was to help raise money and awareness for the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital. Through its holiday outreach, this is the second year in a row the company has raised funds for this organization.

“We were very happy to participate again in this fundraising activity to help support the mission of the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital and the Department of Pediatrics at Stanford University School of Medicine. It is a very worthwhile cause and we were proud to participate as a company,” says Dave Gulezian, President and CEO of Viscira.

Viscira® Uses Parallax Scrolling to Design Stunning Websites for Life Science Companies

From Sony to Nike, big consumer brands are bringing their websites to life with parallax design and scrolling. Moving away from more traditional website approaches, companies are using this technology to make even the simplest designs more impactful and engaging.

Parallax, a method of creating a visual effect in which an image that is closer seems to be moving at a different speed than an image that is farther away, is typically achieved through image layering, thereby creating a sensation of depth and dimension. Because it offers enhanced content delivery and stronger engagement for viewers, parallax has become one of the hottest web design trends. Healthcare marketers have also recognized its ability to improve the effectiveness of their information presentation, increase the visual impact of medical content and help their brand stand out in a highly competitive market.

Viscira, a leading provider of interactive, new-media communication solutions and software products for the life sciences industry, is utilizing this web design technique to create stunning graphics that entice the user to scroll through a site to further engage with the images and content. This includes immersing the user in unique 3D environments that might represent a cell surface or complete cellular microenvironment.

“Parallax is a designer’s dream and one that is perfect for healthcare marketing, as it lends itself to an engaging and immersive brand experience versus the static, flat nature of a more traditional information hub. It is a wonderful motion design effect that delivers dynamic storytelling information via the viewer's mouse scroll wheel or tablet finger swipe,” explained Rodwin Pabello, Viscira’s Director of Visual and Interaction Design. “At Viscira, we always want to stay at the forefront of the latest design techniques.”

As a company, Viscira is passionate about design and is committed to using state-of -the-art approaches like parallax to provide immersive and engaging digital experiences for end users. Digital Marketing Innovation - Viscira® Creates Dynamic 3D Environments with Real-Time Animation for Life Science Companies

Real-time animation, a technique that gives users the ability to interact with the CG world and control their viewing experience, is a mainstay technology in the gaming universe. It is also one that has caught on in the film industry as a cost-effective and time-efficient way to pre-visualize films on set, before starting any post-production work. However, beyond these areas, real-time animation also has promise in the medical field, where Viscira is finding ways to use this technology to move beyond traditional delivery of animated scientific content.

Viscira, a leading provider of interactive, new-media communication solutions and software products for the life sciences industry, is capitalizing on the advantages of using real-time animation by developing 3D solutions that add another level of engagement with an intuitive approach. The company is effectively using real-time animation to create programs that enable healthcare professionals or patients to control their viewing experience and engage with the CG world at a molecular and cellular level. This provides a much more interactive experience as compared to a traditional, straight-play animation video where the viewing experience is more passive.

Dr. Anthony Padula, a local Bay Area rheumatologist, sees real-time animation as a great way to help advance scientific visualization. “The Viscira solutions I have reviewed effectively create 3D environments that take animation to the next level by allowing the user to be fully immersed and interact with the 3D world to better understand what is taking place from a scientific perspective.” Padula added, “I think these solutions have the potential to increase the overall engagement level and educational impact of these programs within the medical community.”

Viscira is developing real-time animation solutions on tablet devices, such as the Apple® iPad™ with its built-in camera and gyroscope, which allow the user to pan around and control their own viewing experience. In addition, the company is also exploring ways to incorporate the Oculus Rift to create real-time animation solutions that would have application as group learning experiences in a classroom setting or at a medical congress meeting.

Hagop (Kane) Kaneboughazian, Vice President of Animation at Viscira, commented on the company’s use of real-time animation for developing innovative digital solutions for its clients. “We always look for ways to incorporate the latest technology from other industries to change the way we deliver healthcare information for our clients. Our ongoing focus on implementing enhanced experiences, like real-time animation, enables us to continue to provide unique and differentiated products for our industry.”
